Kevin J Mills - Associate Master of the Arts
8th Degree Black Belt American Kenpo Associate Master Kevin J Mills is the Head and Chief Instructor of the British Kenpo Karate Union (“BKKU”). Mr Mills began his training in the late SGM Parker's American Kenpo in 1981. In 1989 Kevin was very fortunate to meet the late SGM Edmund K Parker during one of his many visits to the UK where he was giving a Seminar in Exeter under the IKKA. SGM Parker’s charisma, ability and great passion for his art left a lasting impression. Today Kevin is a student of Dr Ron Chapél of the Martial Science University “MSU” in Los Angeles, studying advanced Sub Level Four Kenpo concepts and its SL4 Kenpo Curriculum and is the European Director for SL4 Europe. In 2001 Kevin founded the renowned International BKKU Summer Camp, with the aim of openly exposing members within his own organization and other Martial Artists in the UK to Senior Martial Arts and Combative Instructors from around the world. This Camp attracts some "cream of the crop" Instructors from around the world and hence the Camp has grown year after year attracting martial artists worldwide from all styles to come along and share the experience. As well as being a phenomenal martial artist/combative instructor, Kevin has also launched a very successful combative DVD series "Rapid Impact Combatives", has been published numerous times in Martial Arts Illustrated and Combat with his very successful "Study of Bio Mechanics within the Martial Arts" series of articles and has now written a long awaited for manuscript on the Bio Mechanics of Martial Arts which will be published in the near future. In 2011 Kevin was nominated and inducted into the Combat Martial Arts Hall of Fame for his outstanding commitment, excellence and development of the Martial Arts in the United Kingdom and around the world and was very proud to receive his award at a glittering "Who's Who of Martial Arts" Ceremony in Birmingham, UK from the legendary Martial Arts Champion, Joe Lewis, arguably the best fighter that has ever stepped into the ring. Kevin is very passionate about the Martial Arts and especially the art of Kenpo, never standing still and constantly looking toward the future and pushing the boundaries. Kevin’s training has seen him travelling extensively which has resulted in him meeting and training with some of the best Martial Artists/Combative Instructors in the world today from whom he has gleaned invaluable information and insight which has enabled him to hone his skills to such an advanced degree that he has become a much respected and sought after Martial Artist worldwide and regularly teaches on the International Martial Arts Seminar circuit. Kevin holds a City & Guilds Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector, a MASTARR National Training Programme Level 3 Coaching Adults qualification, a Skills for Security Certificate in Basic Weapons Awareness & Recognition, a Sports First Aid Certificate, Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau ("CRB") check and maintains full coaching and liability insurance.
