Mr Dominic Jones
4th Degree Black Belt Mr Dominic Jones began his training with the British Kenpo Karate Union (BKKU) in 1989 under Bob Rose. Today, Mr Jones holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate and lives and trains in Japan. As well as training in Senior Grand Master Ed Parker’s American Kenpo Mr Jones has trained in various Japanese karate and Iai-jitsu styles, and is interested in martial arts with a focus on self defence and language acquisition. Mr Jones began teaching American Kenpo Karate as an Assistant Instructor in the Junior Classes at the BKKU Exeter Studio in 1994 and in 1996 helped to set up the Exeter University Kenpo Club with Mr Igor Ledochowski. In 1997 Mr Jones took over as Instructor of the Exeter University Club upon Mr Ledochowski’s move to London and also achieved his 1st Degree Black Belt. In 1999, after two years of running a thriving University Club and after achieving his 2nd Degree Black Belt, Mr Jones emigrated to Japan and in 2000 he opened the Sendai Kenpo Club under the umbrella of the BKKU. The Sendai Kenpo Studio enjoys the honour of being the only American Kenpo Karate school in Japan. Mr Jones teaches Kenpo in English, so allowing his Japanese students to not only learn the art of Kenpo but also to improve their language skills. Mr Jones continues to travel between Japan and the UK to train under his Instructor Associate Master Kevin J Mills and keeps in regular contact with his Kenpo family.
